Annual Community Service Projects

For over 75 years The Garden Workers have volunteered their time and energy to beautify and raise funds for the surrounding Main Line community and the Greater Philadelphia area. The following is a short description of past and ongoing projects


The Magnolia Tribute Garden

Located on the south side of Locust between 4th and 5th Streets, the garden was donated by the Garden Club of America in honor of the founders of our nation, and dedicated in May 1959. The Garden Workers provides annual maintenance to this garden.

Physic Garden
The Garden Workers  annually provide maintenance to the Physic Garden. The garden
serves as an open-air classroom for Philadelphia youth. In May 2006, Pennsylvania Hospital’s Physic Garden began serving as the backdrop for a unique program for Philadelphia-area schoolchildren, called Learn to Grow

Decorating Ronald McDonald House
The Garden Workers provide flower arrangements to brighten areas of the Ronald McDonlad House.

Past Projects


Philadelphia Open House Tours
Club members opened their homes for this annual fundraiser for The Friends of Independence Park.

Mrs. Bush Brown’s Neighborhood Garden Association
(now Pennsylvania Horticultural Society’s Philadelphia Green Program)
Until 1985, organized and planted a Philadelphia city block garden to demonstrate good gardening practices.
